The Rider’s Charter

Seven rules Retro Metro runs by. They don’t change as it grows.

Why we’re here

A lot of games now are built around a shop: coins to buy, energy that runs out, timers that pull you back, a stronger sword for whoever pays. They’re made by talented people, often inside companies whose first job is to make the numbers go up, and it shows in how the games treat you.

The games many of us grew up with had budgets and deadlines too. But they were made by people who loved making them, and you could feel it. Retro Metro is a place for games like that: our own small ones, homebrew from people who still make games for the old machines, and somewhere to talk about all of it.

  1. No ads.

No banners, no videos, no “sponsored” games.

  2. Nothing to buy.

No coins, gems, tokens, energy, extra lives or passes. Every game here is whole and free.

  3. Money never touches play.

Donations keep the trains running. They don’t buy power, speed, early access or a better spot on any list. A thank-you badge is the most a donation gets you.

  4. No tricks to keep you here.

No streaks that punish a missed day, no countdown timers, no loot boxes, no “your friends are waiting” messages. Stop whenever you like; the game will still be there.

  5. You are not the product.

We never sell your data or share it for advertising. We count visits without cookies, and nothing follows you around the web.

  6. Games arrive finished.

Our own games are small and complete on day one. No season passes, no “more if you pay”.

  7. We say where the money goes.

Donations pay for hosting and the next thing we build, and the goal bar shows how close we are.

If we ever break one of these, tell us at the station and hold us to it.
